Malcolm McLaren

Malcolm McLaren
Born: 22nd January 1946 Stoke Newington, London, England
Died: 8th April 2010 Bellinzona, Ticino, Switzerland (mesothelioma / cancer)
English impresario, visual artist, performer and clothes designer. Rose to fame/infamy as the manager of Sex Pistols and defined punk fashion with designer Vivienne Westwood, selling their designs in their King's Road shop Sex.

In 1982, Mclaren visited NYC--particularly the Bronx, and witnessed scratching & rapping. He told Producer Trevor Horn about what he'd seen, and the two (along with The World's Famous Supreme Team, and members of the Art of Noise), recorded Seminal tracks such as "Buffalo Gals", "Hobo Scratch", & "World's Famous", fusing different styles for the first time, resulting in some of the earliest examples of electro/rap to come out of England.
