"Love Yourself: Tear" was released in 4 different versions: Y, O, U and R. While the version documented here is the R version, the credits and tracklist apply to all versions.

Like all other versions, this one was issued in a hardcover slipcase. The following contents are included inside the slipcase:
- A 103-page photobook (unique with each version), containing lyrics, credits, "thanks to"s, and of course, a lot of photos of the BTS members.
- A giant poster of BTS (also unique with each version)
- A photo-card (again, also unique with each version; selected and included at random; 1 out of 7 included in each version, 28 cards in total)
- A standing photo of BTS.
- An 18-page mini book entitled "花樣年華: The Notes" (translation: "The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: The Notes"; part of the Bangtan Universe; once again, unique with each version)
- A card featuring a scannable QR code and a shortened goo.gl link, both of which will take you to the BigHit Membership Survey.
- The BigHit Audition Guide, a square piece of paper that talks about how, who, what, where and why you should audition for BigHit Entertainment.
- And finally, the CD, featured outside and on the front of the DVD-like packaging instead of on the inside.
