The generation of musicians after Guillaume Dufay and Gilles Binchois began around 1450 to experiment with new compositional techniques that led to a very progressive and independent repertoire of secular songs. After 1460 these works were collected in circles of the French high nobility, and several of these manuscript collections have been preserved. The ensemble LA MORRA, Basel, presents an anthology of this highly refined art of instrumental and vocal music-making in the freshness and immediacy of a "garden of pleasure".
