Mophing People

The Japanese alternative rock band Mophing People (featuring former members of Japanese indie rock legends Shonen Knife) are back with their second EP, 'Alternative E.P 2.' Building on the success of their previous release, which topped the iTunes alternative charts, this dynamic duo continues to captivate indie-grunge-rock fans with their boundless energy, powerful live performances, and their brilliant debut LP 'mppp,' already hailed as a modern classic. Their sound blends alternative rock with catchy melodies and incorporates lo-fi elements,resulting in an irresistible combination that listeners can't get enough of. The A-side kicks off with 'Kidding Myself,' featuring a guitar riff reminiscent of The Strokes and a series of irresistible hooks, all wrapped in a melodious, groovy pop song. Next is 'Lucy,' a lo-fi melodic track that builds into yet another guitar-driven explosion. On the B-side, the track 'Fishing Park' was inspired by the gentle sound of ripples while fishing at sea, which composer Miyoshi skilfully captures and translates into the song's atmosphere. The EP closes with 'If You Want Me To Be Yours,' whose guitar riff and vibeevoke shades of Radiohead, while still maintaining the unique Mophing People sound, reminiscent of Sonic Youth but infused with a distinctly Japanese twist. 'Alternative E.P 2' is another outstanding release from the fabulous Mophing People,offering a fresh dose of alternative indie-rock and grunge.
