Brighton, UK based psychedelic rock/folk duo Rokurokubi (Rose and Edmund Io) offer up their second studio album, 'Iris, Flower Of Violence', the result of three years working with producer Wyndham Earl. The album is a collection of siren-sung fairy tales, told over a musical landscape of deep acid-folk and psychedelic rock. Gathering comparisons to Fairport Convention, Pentangle, Curved Air or a gnarlier version of early Kate Bush, Rokurokubi's originality and imagination have gained them a loyal cult following, embedding themselves in the UK psych scene with a unique stamp. The album's eponymous track 'Iris, Flower Of Violence' is a twisting 3-part psychedelic folk ballad with a garage rock intro, played on a bouzouki! From the haunting psychedelic-folk lullaby of 'Nick' sung over a hazy droning, looping guitar motif and bubbling synth analogue synth textures, to the crescendoing 9-minute epic, acid-drenched psych rock of 'Katie Levitating' featuring fellow Brighton, UK group Wax Machine, the 10 song album takes the listener on a journey through enchanted forests and subterranean-tomb raiding, all the way heaven-bound!
