Jms

Jms
French jazz and jazz-fusion label. JMS was originally established by Jean-Marie Salhani during the 1970s as a management (phonographic copyright and publishing) company, with early releases known on Eurodisc. In 1979 Salhani established Disques JMS, which later became known as JMS or JMS. with Disques JMS reverting back to company roles.

The JMS label was launched after the creation on the JMS/Cream Records company in 1983 with distribution via Adès. As a main label it existed 1983/84 (and possibly a little while after). Original JMS releases do not have barcodes.

The "logo" appeared as two designs: 1. JMS (standard Arial font) and 2. JMS (Futura Oblique font). Record labels are black/charcoal paper with silver print.
Later during the 1980s the new label name/logo JMS. (JMS"dot") was adopted. In some cases vinyl reissues can be identified by having JMS or JMS labels with the JMS. logo on the cover (in such cases include both label names).

JMS is also used as copyright and publishing roles on many releases (and on other labels) and can be added under the appropriate company roles. It also appears as a co-label on many CREAM Records releases.
