Mag
Peruvian label from Lima, may also appear labeled as "Discos Mag".
For company credits use Discos Mag.
Founded by engineer Manuel Antonio Guerrero June 8, 1953 after he recorded a Peruvian Criolla band in the studios of Radio San Cristóbal, using his initials MAG as label name. He soon after opened his first studio (Estudios Mag) where his successful career in the world of music started. In the beginning he recorded many Peruvian groups such as maestro Lucho Macedo and his Sonora, as well international orchestras that made obligatory stopovers in Lima in the 50's due to the nocturnal movement that seized the elegant Lima nights to the rhythm of guarachas, mambos and boleros.

Subsequently Guerrero bought a small factory with two pressing machines for records which grew up to 15 pressing machines for 7" and LPs at a later point, including a modern recording studio and office facilities. MAG signs licensing deals with various labels all around the world to import international hits for the Peruvian market. In the late 1960s Guerrero and MAG are responsible for many recordings of the Peruvian rock scene such as Traffic Sound, Los York's, Telegraph Avenue or Laghonia. Guerrero and his company Sica Peruana S. A. also manufacture records for other Peruvian labels, as well distributes international Hits via D.I.E.R.S.A.. In the 1970s MAG focused more on Tropical releases and was throughout its existence one of the most important labels from Peru.

In 2021 MAG was acquired by Spanish record company Distrolux S.L. (also owner of Vampisoul and Munster Records)
