Annie Barbazza

Annie Barbazza
Born in Milan on June 15, 1993, Annie is a star in the new progressive and underground music world. Started her career as a drummer while studying piano at Conservatorio Nicolini in Piacenza, her powerful vocal talent was discovered by Greg Lake of ELP and King Crimson who wanted her to be on stage at his side in his famous concert that eventually became the "Live in Piacenza" album. Her debut was on the reborn Manticore records in a Lake produced duo with pianist Max Repetti for a project, Moonchild, that Lake thought for himself but, when fell ill, wanted Barbazza to perform it. She played, performed and sang on records then with North Sea Radio Orchestra, Paul Roland, John Greaves, Giorgio Fico Piazza and more and live she performed with Paul Roland, North Sea Radio Orchestra, John Greaves, Robyn Hitchock, Eugenio Finardi, Aldo Tagliapietra, Osanna and many more.
Her role as lead vocalist together with ex Henry Cow John Greaves on bass on the project "Folly Bololey" With the North Sea Radio Orchestra, and the performance she did at the Rock In Opposition Festival in Lyon in May 1999 and then at London Café Oto gave her international critical attention. Barbazza also performs as a duo with guitar wizard Marco Colombo in a performance called "Annie's Playlist", conceived for her by the late Greg Lake, where she covers all the songs that took a role in her formation from The Beatles to Slapp Happy, The Residents and Zappa.
"Vive" is her debut album with a all star collaborator list including Greg Lake, Daniel Lanois, John Greaves, Fred Frith, Lino Capra Vaccina, Paul Roland, Olivier Mellano, Michael Tanner (Plinth), Max Marchini, Camillo Mozzoni. The album had international 5 stars critical review and was chosen by Audio Review as album of the month.
