C.R. Gillespie
C.R. Gillespie is a Toronto- based sound artist and producer. Born in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
The Pacific Northwest environment influenced his textural overlapping of “waves”; focused layering of soothing tones that tremulate and merge in a vast and expansive synthetic ocean. They utilize analog equipment and other pre-digital mediums, such as reel to reel recorders, tape loops and manipulated field recordings, to create a vibrating collage of organic and synthesized textures. Since releasing "Séance Works", C.R. Gillespie has performed in galleries, bookstores, bars, yoga studios and séances, distilling a fascination with the fragility of the recorded sound; a study in genesis, sustain and decay in modern technology.
