Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin
This orchestra was founded as RIAS-Symphonie-Orchester in West-Berlin in 1946. It was a part of the American radio station RIAS (Radio im amerikanischen Sektor / Radio in the American Sector). In 1956 the name was changed to Radio-Symphonie-Orchester. After the German reunion the name changed again to Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin in 1993. This was done to prevent mix-ups with other orchestras using this name.
