Elmer Bernstein
American Academy Award-winning composer and conductor.
Father of Peter Bernstein (with his 2nd wife) and Emilie A. Bernstein (with his 3rd wife).
In a career that spanned over five decades, he composed over 150 original film scores and scores for nearly 80 television productions.
His Hollywood works include The Ten Commandments (1956), The Magnificent Seven (1960), The Great Escape (1963), Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967, Academy Award), Animal House (1978), The Blues Brothers (1980), Trading Places (1984) and Ghostbusters (1984).
Not related to Leonard Bernstein, though they were friends.
