Helter Skelter

Helter Skelter
Drummer Gary Anderson met Jesse Hector circa 1970 when Crushed Butler played a gig with Gary's outfit, Albert Monk. They spoke afterwards, and agreed to work together someday. After Crushed Butler folded, Jesse contacted Gary and formed Helter Skelter, with Vic Allen on bass. They recorded "I Need You" in 1971 in one take at Regent Sound studio in Denmark Street with David Kassner, son of President Records owner Eddie Kassner, producing. It was not released until six years later in 1977. They later changed their name to Tiger, Crushed Butler bass man, Alan Butler, joined and they changed the name to The Hammersmith Gorillas in 1974, later shortened to simply The Gorillas.
