Ms Willis began singing and writing songs in New York with Blue Period and the Hello Strangers in 1984. Ms Willis sang with a group called Washington Week In Review in London in 1985.
In 1989, Nicole sang back-ups and lead vocals on The The's 'Mind Bomb' tour. The following year, she joined Repercussions, releasing "" on Mo Wax in 1992 and then collaborated with Curtis Mayfield on "Let's Do It Again"released on Reprise Records. Ms Willis recorded on albums "" and "",
as lead vocalist and songwriter of Repercussions. Ms Willis recorded the track "" with Leftfield from the album "", released in 1999. Producing and recording with Maurice Fulton and ex husband Jimi Tenor, she released the albums "" (2000) and "" (2004) on electronic label Puu/Sähkö Recordings.
From 2003-2015, she recorded with Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators 3 studio albums, "", "" & "". Released 2 albums under the name Cola & Jimmu with Jimi Tenor, from 2013-2014 "" & "", with which she began her record label Herakles Records. Also produced "" with Jimi Tenor, released on Herakles Records in 2014. Further collaborations with Jonathan Maron, Jimi Tenor and UMO Jazz Orchestra on Persephone Records, sub-label of Herakles Records in 2017.
