Swedish conductor, born 4 April 1918 in Malmö, Sweden and died 13 February 2005 in New York City, New York, USA.

Conductor and pianist. He is considered one of the foremost Swedish conductors. During his five-decade career, he conducted almost all the leading orchestras and in almost all the leading opera houses in the world. Trained in Stockholm, Dresden, London and Paris.
