Disorient

Disorient
Disorient started in 1997 By Gavin Smith as an extension of the "Mr Bongo" recordshop in Tokyo and it's affiliated label with the same name. The idea for Disorient was to release more Japanese artists in Europe who couldn't get the exposure and whose releases couldn't get into the Western market (due to the weighty import prices). After years of massive club-hits such as Kaori's cover-version of Innercity's "Good life" or the Masters At Work-remixes of Atmosfears' "Dancing in outer space" Disorient still continues featuring Japanese artists such as Su-Paka-Poh from possibly the most important Japanese house label called "Flower Records".
Disorient focusses, like it's parent label, on lot's of very latin-influenced rhythms (and like the whole japanese scene in general) but is definitely "housier" than "Mr Bongo".
