JMS.
French jazz and jazz-fusion label. JMS. was established during the 1980s by publisher/producer Jean-Marie Salhani. It was the successor to the labels Disques JMS and JMS after Salhani established the limited company (Societé) JMS / Cream Records.
JMS. (JMS"dot") was the new brand found on most releases mid 1980s onwards.
The label has been handled by the following distributors: 1983-1992 Adès, 1992-1994 WMD, 1994-2005 Sony Music, 2007-201? Sphinx Distribution. Barcodes were introduced sometime during 1988.
The "logo" generally appears as JMS. (Futura Bold font) on the rear cover. Earlier record labels are black/charcoal paper with silver print (JMS logo), and later ones have grey/coloured labels with text as white relief (JMS. logo). CD labels vary. In general, when there is a distinction between JMS. (JMS"dot") and JMS on a release (i.e. JMS. logo on the cover with JMS labels) add as appropriate for the roles as on the release.
